DATE ASSIGNED: Tuesday, May 19th

DATE DUE: Tuesday, May 26th

·         Part I: Complete the Investigation Review below.

·        Part II:  Draw a 4-6 frame comic strip explaining how fossil fuels were formed millions of years ago. Color your comic.

·        Part III:  Draw and design a solar powered car. Label the parts of the car that have to do with your power supply. Below the drawing, write one paragraph describing how your car would work using the sun as your power source.

Grading:

Part I:   Completed Investigation Review                              10      points

Investigation Review:

1.     An example of a fossil fuel is (wood, petroleum).

2.     Fossil Fuels are (renewable, nonrenewable) resources.

3.     If the fuel called “peat” is buried long enough, it changes into (crude oil, coal).

4.     The good news about fossil fuels is that their supplies are (dependable, unlimited).

5.     A windmill farm uses wind to produce (heat, electricity).

6.     Read the steps below that describe the process producing oil and natural gas. Number the steps in the correct order as they occur.

______Tiny once living things in the sea sink to the ocean bottom.

______Over millions of years, heat and pressure change the dead matter into

    petroleum and natural gas.

______Tiny ocean life dies.

______Tiny living things exist in the ocean.

______Mud and sand cover the dead organisms.
