The
students in 4th grade will be studying Weather and Climate in Science
during the first marking period.
In Computer Science the students will be viewing videos introducing the
concepts presented in the Weather and Climate Unit.
Students will be required to complete a worksheet with each video. Students have been instructed in the use of the computer
video controls and are encouraged to stop the video whenever they need.
Students may also re-watch the video as needed.

Vocabulary
words will be assigned for homework, 12 at a time.
Students will be given one week to complete the definitions of the words
assigned. The students must
define the given words using their
Science textbooks (copy the
definitions word for word from the glossary found in the back of the textbook).
These completed, corrected, graded, and returned assignments will be used
to review the terms and definitions for Unit E, Weather and Climate, in
preparation for the unit final. If
a student does not use the Science textbook glossary, he or she will be required
to re-do the assignment and may be subject to lose points for the assignment.
The
handwritten vocabulary terms/definitions, collected weather
data and written weather reports, and video worksheets will count as a part of
the Computer grade for the first marking period. The homework assignments will also count as part of classroom
Science Unit Final grade. Both Mrs.
Quintiliani and I agree, and are aware that keyboarding skills are an important
aspect of technology; however, it is important that we not neglect the
fundamental discipline and necessity of legible handwriting for each student.
The
students in 4th grade will be studying Classifying Living Things in Science for
the second marking period. In Computer Science the students will be
viewing videos introducing and reviewing the concepts presented in the
Classifying Living Things Unit. Following each video, students will
complete a worksheet. Students have been instructed in the use of the
computer video controls and are encouraged to stop the video whenever they need.
Students may also re-watch the video as needed.

Key
terms will be assigned for homework, 14 at a time. Students will be given
one week to complete the definitions of the 14 words given. The students
must define the given words using their Science textbooks (copy the definitions
word for word from the glossary found in the back of the textbook). After
the homework has been graded, the vocabulary sheets will be returned to the
students for studying. The children will then be able to solve vocabulary
puzzles using these vocabulary terms. These puzzles will be used to review
the terms and definitions for Unit C, Classifying Living Things, in preparation
for the unit final.
The
handwritten vocabulary terms/definitions and the solved puzzles will count as a
part of the classroom Science Unit Final grade, as well as your Computer grade
for the second marking period.
The
students in 4th grade have begun studying Magnetism and Electricity in Science
for the third marking period. In Computer Science the students will be
viewing videos introducing and reviewing the concepts presented in the Magnetism
and Electricity Unit. Following each video, students will complete a
worksheet. Students have been instructed in the use of the computer video
controls and are encouraged to stop the video whenever they need. Students
may also re-watch the video as needed.

Key
terms will be assigned for homework, 12/13 at a time. Students will be
given one week to complete the definitions of the words given. The
students must define the given words using the glossary in the back of their
Science textbooks (copy the definitions word for word). After the homework
has been graded, the vocabulary sheets will be returned to the students for
studying. The children will then be able to solve vocabulary puzzles using
these vocabulary terms. These puzzles will be used to review the terms and
definitions for Unit D, Magnetism and Electricity, in preparation for the unit
final.
The
handwritten vocabulary terms/definitions and the solved puzzles will count as a
part of the classroom Science Unit Final grade, as well as your Computer grade
for the third marking period. We are aware that keyboarding skills are an
important aspect of technology; however, it is important that we not neglect the
fundamental discipline and necessity of legible handwriting.
The students in 4th grade will be studying
Earth’s Land in
Science for the 4th marking period. In Computer Science the
students will be viewing videos introducing and reviewing the concepts presented
in the Earth’s Land Unit. Following each video, students will
complete a worksheet. Students have been instructed in the use of the
computer video controls and are encouraged to stop the video whenever they need.
Students may also re-watch the video as needed.
Key terms will need to be defined for homework, 13/14 at a time.
Students will be given one week to complete the definitions of the words given.
The students must define the given words using
their Science textbooks (copy the definitions word for word from the glossary in
the back of the book). After the homework has been graded, the
vocabulary sheets will be returned to the students for studying. The
children will then be able to solve vocabulary puzzles using these vocabulary
terms. These puzzles will be used to review the terms and definitions for
Unit A, Earth’s Land, in preparation for the unit final.
The
handwritten vocabulary terms/definitions and the solved
puzzles will count as a part of the classroom Science Unit Final grade, as well
as your Computer grade for the fourth marking period. We are aware that keyboarding skills are an important aspect
of technology; however, it is important that we not neglect the fundamental
discipline and necessity of legible handwriting.
