Montessori Three, Four, and Five-Year-Old Program
Through the Notre Dame
Montessori Program three, four, and five-year-old students are grouped together
in the same learning environment. The Montessori classroom consists of a
learning environment that is just as important as the learning that takes place.
The curriculum consists of motor education, sensory education, and language
development. All areas are focused on individualized instruction. The educators
produce a learning environment that meets the needs of all three age groups.
Students progress at their own rate. The students learn through activities that
involve exploration, manipulation, repetition, and communication.
Religion is practiced throughout the school day. Students take part in prayers,
song, and discussion of the Catholic faith.
Assessment comes mainly in the form of teacher observation. Parent conferences
are utilized to discuss student progress. A report card is given to
five-year-olds at the end of the school year.
