PHILOSOPHY

Notre Dame Elementary School is a Catholic School, located in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Notre Dame is staffed by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and dedicated lay teachers. The administration and faculty work in close association with the pastors of the supporting parishes, namely: The Church of Saint Matthew, Saint Luke, Saint John and Queen of Peace.

Notre Dame Elementary School is dedicated to developing the whole child as a worthwhile member of the Christian community. Ours is a Catholic School which strives to develop Christian ideals in all the students who pass through its doors. Children are our most prized treasure; we believe that the education we give them should provide the competencies needed to become productive, useful citizens of their communities and country. Furthermore, we believe that this educational institution has a duty to teach in all facets of life.

Striving to maintain a hierarchy of values and a priority of objectives, we endeavor to "Teach As Jesus Taught." Notre Dame Elementary helps the child shape and reshape his or her goals in the light of the Gospel spirit of freedom and charity. It stands on the basis that each student has come forth from God and will return to Him, presenting to His maker the fruits of all his labors: Mental, Physical, Emotional, Social and Spiritual.

Recognizing always in each student the likeness of Christ, and again, the duty to form Christ in one's self and in others, the teachers guide the students with firmness, tempered with kindness, cognizant of the educational, social, and economic development of their particular environment, alert to the latest and improved methods to teach the present day child.
