PROMOTION AND RETENTION

Notre Dame Elementary follows the Scranton Diocesan Policy regarding the promotion and retention of a student.

 Progress through the grades is a matter of achievement in the required basic skills as well as age, maturation and social development.

 The majority of students will satisfactorily master the skills in each course of study at the rate of one grade a year. However, some children may experience difficulty in mastering the academic phases of the school program and will profit more from school if retained one grade. Each student will be considered individually and consultation with parents will be arranged.
