The “Writing to Read” Computer Lab was established many years ago and it still serves the kindergarten and first grade classes exclusively.  “Writing to Read” is a program whose philosophy is based on “If I can say it, I can write it; if I can write it, I can read it”.

In 2003, the lab went through a modernization and most of the I.B.M. computers were replaced with Dell computers.  There are now 14 Dell computers and 3 I.B.M. computers.  Although the "Writing to Read" software is not updated for the Dell computers, several other phonics and reading comprehension programs by Essential Skills are equally appropriate and challenging. More importantly, the philosophy is still implemented with various activities so that students can practice and apply skills learned in class.

Of course, the other learning focus of the lab is basic computer and typing skills which are learned and practiced both separately (for typing skills) and in conjunction with using the phonics and reading programs.
